Humidity Too High

Excessive humidity can make the wood in your instrument swell and expand. For an acoustic instrument, this swelling causes an increase in string height and can ruin its “action” making the instrument hard to play. The extra moisture weight can make the instrument sound dull and lifeless. In guitars, over humidification causes mold and can create an improper neck angle, bridge angle or an unusually swollen arched or back permanently damaging It. To correct this problem, place the guitar in a humidity-controlled environment.
